My Love

My Love
By Marissa Stephens

I thought you and I was always going to be. I was wrong. I thought you were real, but you were just another lie. I thought you loved me, but I see now that you never did. My love was real. I did anything and everything for you. I showed you my love was real. You were the one I wanted, but now I know that I wasn’t the one you wanted. I cried when you left; its hard the be without you. I felt so bad. My heart was breaking and there was nothing I could do about it. I would have never done to you what you did me. I know you going to miss my love.
The love I give you every day was great. I know your going to miss all my love. Your going to miss the way I use to make you laugh. How the silly things I did made you smile. Like when we had that water fight. All those lame jokes I told you, just to make your day. Do you remember how I use to cook breakfast for you? I hope you remember how good the beacon, pancakes, and eggs were, because you’re never going to taste it again. Remember I was the shoulder you cried on, where’s your shoulder now. I was your all, but not any more I’m just the one who is going to make you think "what if".
I’ll tell you the "what if’. What if we were to stay together? I could have been the one you woke up to-The one you held in your arms as we slept. What if you were here with me? I could make you smile always. What if love wasn’t so hard? We would have never had fun. What if I died? Would you still cry? I would cry for you. What if you held on? I would have never let go. What if she didn’t come along? Would you be here now? What if you picked me? She can never take my place. What if you showed me that you loved me? I would have believed you. What if I was to be the one you grew old with? You would never be alone. What if you never left? You could have had all of me forever. Not now, I’m gone, no more forever for us.
Now that you see the "what ifs" do you understand now? Well thinking about it "what if?" I know everything about you. I know what makes you hurt, what makes you cry. I know what make you smile, what make you happy. I know you love me as much as I love you. I know I can make you happy. I know this because I know you. The little things, and the most important, like your birthday, favorite color, and your lucky number. Did you know that you’re the only one who knows everything about me too? Are you going to miss my love? Well you are, because I miss yours.
If you only knew how much I care for you would you have stayed? You should have tried harder for you and me. I give my all to you. You were that most important person in my life. You broke my heart and I know yours is broken. I wish it wasn’t true. I wish you had held on to me. You let me go, but I would have never let you go. Its time to let you go now. I want you to read this and know what you lost. You should have kept me, but you didn’t know how to treat me. You’ll see that I was the one for you. I’m going to find the right person to give all my love to. So now you know why you should have never left. I know you’re going miss my love.

I Want To Be A Super Model

I want to be a Super Model

By Marissa Stephens

Models, they are beautiful, famous, and they make lots of money or at less super models. To be a super model you have to have the looks. Looks are everything to agencies, but how you take a picture is even more important. To be a super model you have to have a great personality. Most of all you can’t be shy or be afraid of anything. Super models must be outgoing and be ready to walk that catwalk.
I want to be a super model and live the glamorous life. I want to be famous and be all over to magazines. I want to get rich. I got what it takes to be a super model. Being a models will help me a lot. I will be able to help my family. I going to show everybody who didn’t believe in me, that I made it and I’m living my dream. My dream is to be a super model and I going do whatever it take to be one.
Looks are what I have and I definitely know how to use them. People tell me that I should be a model. They tell me all the time that I’m beautiful. I love it when people tell me I’m beautiful, it makes me feel good, I want to show the world. A lot of people have told me that I’m really beautiful and that I could be a model. I think my looks are rare and hard to come by. I have green eyes, which are always sexy. I’m tall and slender, about 5’10" I would say. Pretty face, a smile that will light up a room, and the softest hair that you could ever feel, I got it all. There all kinds of models and they all have different looks.
I have to say that when it comes to the model world the most important thing is being able to sell a product. Victoria Secret’s model like Adrianna Lima takes pictures for lingerie. She take good pictures, there for she can sell the product, which is lingerie. There are a lot of different kinds of models, and everybody has a different look. All models must be photogenic, and I’ve been told that I am very photogenic. Taking a good picture for a product is the key to selling it. Ads are everywhere and a lot of them have models in them. I feel like if I can take a good picture then I can sell the product, and selling the product is the most important thing. So more people will buy the products.
To be a super model you must have a great personality. Have a great personality will help you get more jobs, because people will love you. Models with great personality, which means being nice and easy to work with, you have to love to have fun and go to parties. All my friends have told me that I have a great personality. I love to have fun, party, and most of all I love to model. I’m an easy person to work with and I take direction good.
Being a super model means you can’t be shy. Super models must take good pictures, there for it helps if you’re outgoing. Super models do a lot of thing like the catwalk, photos for magazines, and commercials. There’s no time to be shy or your career over. I am very outgoing, like Tyra Banks she has 2 television shows; America’s Next Top Model and The Tyra Banks Show. It’s also not good to be shy about your body, there will be time when you might have to dress in front of people at shows.
Be a model is a hard job. You will be away from you family and friends. You’ll be in the limelight and every body will be in you business. I know I can take everybody in my business because their all in it now. It will be a lot of work, but I know I can do it. I’m ready to be a super model. It always been a dream of my to life the famous life. And I’m going to work my hardest to make it in this business. Like a lot of famous models ,I going to be like them someday. When I do I’m going be great.

A Good Man Is Hard To Find

A Good Man Is Hard To Find
By Flannery O'Connor

1. Write a 2-3-paragraph response to the story you read. Please focus more on how you felt about the story than writing a summary.

This is a messed up story, but it was good. I like this story it had a lot of funny part in it. I never hard of the term "pickaninny" and its was messed up how the grandma called that black kid that. I think the kids, John Wesley and June Star was some bad little kid. Before I read this story I thought it was going to be a love story because of the title "A Good Man Is Hard to Find". The story wasn’t anything like I thought it would be. The story had badly little kids, a quite mother who didn’t speak much, a plan dad, and the grandmother who was just selfish. The grandmother didn’t really think about anyone else in the story, just herself.
The grandmother was the cause of what happen to them all. I think that if the grandmother would have just gone on the ride and didn’t say anything they all would have stayed alive. The grandmother tick the kids into thinking what she wanted to think, and got them to go to a house. There wasn’t even a house that’s the messed up part about it. She should have calmly told him that they weren’t a house and maybe they all would be a live now. I thought that it wasn’t that sad when the grandma died, because she should have been trying to talk them out of killing all of them instead she just thought of her self. I feel sorry for the children but they were still bad children. I really thought this story was good I like story that have ending that you wouldn’t except.

2. What was the subject of the story? What was the theme? Look at the examples above if you need to. What do you think about what the author was trying to reveal about the subject? Do you agree with the author? Answer these questions in a short paragraph.

The story subject was about a family going on a trip. One of the themes of the story was to live your life the way you want to you going to died in the end anyway. I think the author show a man who had this way of life, but I don’t feel that way I think people should live a good life and be happy living. They shouldn’t take away other people’s happiness

3. How does the author's words support the theme they are trying to convey. In other words, how can you tell what the author thought about the subject, and how can you tell what the author was hoping you would think when you finished the story. Make sure you provide some direct evidence from the story to support you r response.

You can tell just by the title " A Good Man Is Hard To Find," In the story there was a bad man name misfit. So that just tell you that good men are hard to find. Also in the story they was a man named Red Sam, and the grandma told him " Because you’re a good man!" she told him this because he let two people work for him but they didn’t show. I thought the author was good in supporting her theme.

4. Think of your favorite movie. Explain the subject of that movie, and then the theme. How does the person who created this movie deliver the theme? Describe the themes that let you know how the author feels about the subject and convinces viewers to feel the same.

Kiki's Delivery Service is my all time favorite it was directed by Hayao Miyazaki. In this movie Kiki is a witch trying to make it on her own. The theme is that if you never give up you can do anything. In the movie Kiki went though a lot she forget how it fly, that was a big part of her job. I the end she believe and got her ability to fly back.

The One Who Got Away.

1.Write a 2-3 paragraph summary/response to what you have read. Please be sure to concentrate more on your feelings about the story rather than simply summarizing what happened.

My short story was about a man name Traci Edwards that was almost the twelfth victim of Jeffrey Dahmer. Jeffrey Dahmer is a cannibal who went down in history for his killings. My story was a little confusing at the beginning; it talks about a freelance reporter Denny Johnson who was trying to get an interview with Traci Edwards. Denny got his chance to interveiw Traci, but for a price. He offered Traci $1,000 if he would meet Denny for an interview. Traci meet Denny and he bought a friend along. The interview took place in a hotel room. Denny asked Traci to start off just by telling his story. Denny gives Traci $500 up front and would give him the rest after he was done telling his story. Traci smoke a cigarette and started his story. He first told how Jeffrey came up to him in the mall and asked him if he wanted to party? . Traci thought it was a good ideal at the time. Jeffery told him that they would get some girl and beer. Traci really wanted to go then after he heard their will be free beer. Traci never thought that Jeffrey might be gay. Traci said, "the kind of neighborhood Jeffrey lived in would never tolerated him. They jump guys like that over on his block." The weird thing about what his telling us is that Jeffery offer his victims money so he could take sexy picture of them, but Traci didn’t tell us nothing about this.Lately that day Traci and Jeffery want back to Jeffrey’s apartment. Traci said that Jeffery just need to change his clothes and then they leave. As they walk down the hall, Traci begun to smell a nasty smell as they got closer to Jeffrey’s apartment. Traci asked "Damn, what’s that stink? Jeffery just brushed it off. Traci told Jeffery "Lets just grab a beer and get out of there." Jeffery told Traci that it was the sewer. Traci thought that he was telling the truth. In Jeffery apartment were a lot of drawings of man but Jeffery just told Traci that they were for the health club.I thought this story was nasty but their were some really good parts in the story. I like the part when they were in Jeffrey’s apartment and Jeffery try to kill Traci. I like that Traci fought for his life and in the end he got away. I think the nasty part was when Traci saw the hand. I think Jeffery was just chillin’ in his bed one night and got the hand and was just eating it. That’s nasty.

2. Explain what you think the author's purpose was for writing this story. What do you think he or she wanted readers to come away from this story thinking? Your answer should be between 2 and 3 paragraphs, and the best responses will include some direct evidence from the story.

The author was trying to tell us about an article that was done on the almost twelfth victim of Jeffrey Dahmer. I think he want tell us about it because it is a very good story about how the victim got away. I think people should read this story because they should never just let anyone try to kill them, they should always fight for their life.I think the author also wanted use to know to never give up. If your caught in something like this, fight you’re hardest to get away. I also so think the author wanted people to know about what Jeffery did with the man, and what was it like for them. In the story a lot of red flags went up, and in real life if we feel like something isn’t right we should just go with that feeling.

3. Why do you think it is important to read about moments in other people's lives? Why are these stories so popular? Are their instances in your life that would be helpful to other people to read about?
I think it important because learning about other people’s lives can tell you a lot about your own life. If their life is a lot like you own you’re going to want to read about it. I think that knowing that people, not just you, go thought difficulty situation make you feel better about your life. I think a lot of people like to read story like these because they can relate to them and also compare them to they own lives.

1. Write a 2-3-paragraph response to the article you chose. What information stuck out to you the most?
The article was very good, I thought a lot of the stuff it was saying about gambling was true. I think that parents shouldn’t let their children play gambling games, because they’ll grow up and have big gambling problems. I think its ok to let you children play card games. I think that the article really got the point across about playing poker and you’re a child.I think that even gambling game, not just poker is wrong for children. They are many different games for children to play that will keep them out of trouble. I think that allowing your kid to play gambling games is maybe showing the you might have a problem yourself. I like in the article the part where the told you about warning signs of gambling. Being able to tell the signs will help stop the problem before it gets to late.

2. Two Quotes/Two Questions – Please pick out two quotes that for some reason you find to be important. Then go back through the article and come up with two questions that you have about what you read.
"What these parents may not know is that boys and girls who gambled before age 20 were three times as likely to become addicted to gambling as those who didn’t, and of teenage gamblers, 50% are likely to binge-drink, and 75% are likely to smoke marijuana."
How did you find this information?
"According to the National Council on Problem Gambling, about 80 percent of boys age 17 and younger have gambled at least once within the past year.
"Why are their more boys with this problem?

3. What is the main idea of the article you just read? That more teenagers then people think have a gambling problem.4. List at least three details the author of the article used to support the main idea you identified in #3
" people under 17 were twice as likely as adults to develop a gambling problem. "When you are finished, publish all your responses to your blog, and then leave a comment to this post telling me to check your work.

Toro

"Toro"

By Marissa Stephens

"Hey, did you see that?" Lynn asked her sister as she looks at the clam glistening in the water.

"What?" Clarissa turns and looks at where her sister is standing in the cool stream running

just behind the fence of their back yard. As they both looked there it was swimming right by

Lynn’s feet. It was long and black almost like a, " snake!" they both yelled. Lynn shot out of the

water and quickly grabed onto her sister hand. Standing on the old rickety bridge that their dad

made out of a piece of log used to make flower beds, Lynn and Clarissa look into the now stirred

up water looking for the snake or at least what they thought was a snake.

"It disappeared!" Clarissa said while looking at her sister in disbelief as if she didn’t see it at all.

"But it was just there, didn’t you see it?" Lynn asked her sister who was now heading back up

the steep hill to the house.

" Come on it was just a stick, and even if it was a snake, it’s already gone, so hurry up. I’m not

going help you up this hill." She demanded.

" Wait for me!" Lynn cried falling as she walks up the hill.

Later on that cold windy night, the rain started to fall. Lynn awoke from her chilly bed. There

wasn’t that many covers on it because of an accident she had with a cup of milk. She got up and

walked to her sister’s room, knowing that her bed would be warm. Clarissa had the nicest cover,

brand new silk sheet that she just gotten for her birthday last week. As Lynn walked in her

sister room she smelled the sweet smell of roses; it was Clarissa new perfume " Pink Roses."

"Man, her room smell good " Lynn thought to herself.

" Wake up, can I sleep in here? It’s cold in my room." Lynn pleaded with her sister.

" Why is your room cold? It’s spring. Did you check to see if the air was on?" Clarissa asked as

she rubs her eyes to see better. " Come on, get in. I’m sleepy" Clarissa whispered as she rolled

over to make room for her sister. There was ample amount of room because Clarissa had a full

size bed and compared to Lynn’s twin size bed it was huge. Lynn and Clarissa used to share the

full size bed when they were younger, but now that Clarissa was getting older their parents

thought it was time for them to get out that habit.

" Do you really think that was a snake we saw today?" Lynn asked her sister as the rain slowly

started hitting against the window,

"Yea, what else could it have been?" Clarisssa said to her sister turning over to look at the time.

" It’s just that, snakes don’t disappear that easily. We’ve seen so many. It was weird this time.

And I just…" Lynn paused as she glared out the window.

" You just what?" Clarissa waited to see what her sister wanted to say.

" I just had this feeling. That’s all." Lynn quietly said as she closed her eyes to go to sleep.

" Good night, I guess we’ll find out tomorrow." Clarissa told her sister. Then she went to sleep.

The next day Lynn and Clarissa decided to take another look at where they saw the snake. "

Wow, the water is really clear today, like there’s something different." Clarissa told Lynn as she

looked at her refection in the clean, clear water. The water was clear that day, clearer then

they’ve ever seen it before. " I would think it would have been dirty after all that rain last

night". Clarissa said as they walk further along the steam. When all of a sudden they noticed that
where they were standing was the only clear spot in the water.

" That’s not right, do you see it to?" Lynn asked her sister as she walked slowly closer to the
steam.

" I know. Get in!" Clarissa said as she nudged her sister closer to the water.

" NO! Are you crazy? You get in!" Lynn replied fiercely to her sister.

They started to fuss and fight until they heard a small voice say, " Why are you fighting?"

"What did you say?" Clarissa asked Lynn.

" It wasn’t me." Lynn looks at her sister with a puzzled look.

" It was me!" They looked down, and there it was, the snake. It wasn’t a snake or at least it

didn’t look like a snake they’ve seen before. " AHHHH!" The girls screamed.

" Please don’t run I won’t hurt you. My name is Toro, and I’m lost."

"What are you?" Clarissa asked him with a weird look on her face.

" I’m a Toro. What are you?"

" I’m Lynn and this is my sister Clarissa." Lynn told Toro. He disappeared.

The Lottery

1. The story I read was " The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson. This story was really weird, but pretty good once I got into it. The story start out but talking about the villagers. The story took place in a small village, right in the middle of the Town Square. The time was around ten o’clock when the lottery started.
The children had just got out of school for the summer. The boys were gathering stones while the girls stood around talking. Next the men came together, they wasn’t talking about anything fun just tractors and taxes. When the women came together they talk gossip and then went with their husbands. The children were called to they family and finally came after being call four or five times. A man came out to the middle of the Town Square holding a black box. The man name was Mr. Summers and following him was Mr. Graves he was carrying a three-legged stool.Mr. Summers placed to box on the stool. Mr. Martin Held the box down while Mr. Summers stirred up the papers inside.
The lottery starts off by the calling of families’ last names. In each household the man was the head, so it was only right that the man would go and pull the papers. Mr. Summers was the one who calls the names and prepared the slips of paper. He started calling to name and slowly one by one each man of the house came and got a slip. There was only one woman who had to take the place of her husband. After every name was called and every household had a slip of paper they waited. When told so they were to open their papers all together. When that was done every one started the get happy but one. A man by the name of Bill Hutchinson had pulled the slip of paper that no one wanted. It had a black spot in the middle of it. His wife Tessie said, "It wasn’t fair,"
All of the villagers had the same chance. The whole Hutchinson family gather up together to pull again. In the family were little Dave, Nancy, Bill Jr., Tessie, and Bill they all had to pull. First to pull was little Dave then next were Nancy, Bill Jr., Tessie, and Bill who was last. When they all had a slip of paper they started to open them. Dave opens his slip, nothing was on it; then Nancy, then Bill Jr., and nothing was there just like Dave’s. It came time for the parents, Bill slowly open his, nothing. He looks at his wife, Tessie didn’t want to open it but he made her. A big black spot was there on her slip of paper.
Mr. Summers said "Its Tessie," then Bill shows all of the villagers the paper. Mr. Summers told "All right, folks. Let’s finish quickly." Tessie walks her way to the stool; "It isn’t fair". They started to stone her the whole time she just said, " It isn’t fair, it isn’t right".

2. Mr. Summers was one of the main characters of the story. He was the one who called the names for the lottery."The was conducted...by Mr. Summer, who had time and enegry to devote to civic activities." He made the black box and put the slip of papers inside it. Bill Hutchinson pulls the first slip with the black spot that caused he family to pull also. Tessie is Bill’s wife, she was the one who said it wasn’t fair and in the end it really wasn’t fair for her. She was stone, because she was the one who pulled to black spot. " Bill Hutchinson went over to his wife and forced the slip of paper out of her hand. " Tessie's last word were, "It isn't fair, it isn't right."

3. We could tell what the characters were like by the author. The character Mr. Summer was a happy but lonely man. " Jovial man and he ran the coal business…he had no children and his wife was a sold."

4. a.Simile- figure of speech that makes a comparison between two seemingly unlike things by using a connective word such as like, as, than, or resembles.
b.Metaphor- figure of speech that makes a comparison between two unlike things without using a connective word such as like, as, than, or resembles.
c.Personification- type of metaphor in which a nonhuman thing or quality is talked about as if it were human.
d.Allusion- reference to a statement, a person, a place, or an event from literature, history, religion, myth, politics, sports, science, or the arts.
e.Hyperbole- figure of speech that uses exaggeration to express strong emotion or create a comic effect.
f.Irony- contrast or discrepancy between expectation and reality.

5. Metaphor- ‘Old Man Warner snorted. "Pack of crazy fools," he said.’ This is a metaphor that talks about other villages near by who got rid of the Lottery.

Personification- "he dropped all the papers but those onto the ground, where the breeze caught them and lifted them off."

Irony- In the story it talks about a lottery, so when most people think about the lottery they would like to win it. In the story none of the towns people wanted to win this lottery. At the end of the book we find out why no one want to win, because who ever won only won death. Who ever pull the winning ticket dies by getting stone by all of the town’s people.
